Fig Brandy Liquor

Fig Brandy Liquor

Steve Lister

Fruit liquors are delicious and warming at the same time. All you need is some good quality dry fruits, your choice of a reasonable quality brandy and some patience. Fruits soaked in liquor can be eaten in all sorts of desserts, including simply with a good ice-cream.

Ingredients

  • 500 gm. dried figs (the soft type)

  • 5 tsp. sugar

  • 1 heaped tbsp. runny honey

  • 70 cl (700 ml. or 1 bottle) brandy

  • A sterilised Kilner jar (a jar with sealable, screw top lid)

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in the jar and mix well.

  2. Close/seal the lid and leave in the fridge for a month, giving an occasional gentle shake.

  3. After the time has passed, decant into a bottle. You might want to sieve/filter it, I didn't and it was fine.

  4. Save the figs for desserts/cooking, but remember they are soaked in brandy!
