sam, on 28/10/2006 10:10pm Hi, I've grown my own chillis this year and now have too many to eat! Are there any good recipes that I can use them for to pickle them or make chutney so I can preserve them for longer and put them in other dishes? thanks, Sam
Mamta, on 29/10/2006 01:49pm Hello Sam Look here: http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=10028 http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=13106 http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=10580 http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=12863 You can also bottle some chillies in a mix of vinegar and salt. They last for a long time and are very good with all kind of meals. Mamta

AskCy, on 30/10/2006 08:27pm I love the larger (don't seem quite as hot) pickled (whole) chilies, great on kebabs, sandwiches, salads (just about anything).. are they a special kind of chili or does the pickling take the heat out of them ?
Phil, on 31/10/2006 01:18am Good question! Chillis vary so much. I tend to think that the smaller ones tend to be stronger than the bigger ones (this is our experience here in Texas). But the vinegar might also have an effect. Phil |
